  • high calorie food (such as hash brown, fried bee hoon) - as it leads to obesity

What are your kids' favourite fruits?

Is your Breakfast Healthy?

Hi Friends, 

What breakfast do you normally eat in the morning?
  • Nasi lemak? 
  • Toasted butter bun?
  • Fried Bee Hoon with luncheon meat?
  • Hot dog bun? 
  • Curry Puff? 
  • Wanton Noodle? 
  • KFC or McD's breakfast?
  • with coffee/ tea to keep you alert?

Due to fast pace and rush hour in the morning, many of us may resort to one of the above list to fill up our empty stomach in the morning! 

However, are the above food healthy? **Ponder**

Let's see the below the criteria to unhealthy and healthy breakfast! 

Unhealthy Breakfast:

1. Smoked/ cured meat such as ham, bacon, sausage
2. Animal-based foods such as egg yolk, cheese, butter, cows milk
3. High calorie food such as oily foods (youtiao, hash brown, curry puff), nasi lemak, fried bee hoon)

I remembered there was one day when i brought my elder daughter to watch a movie, and in front of her was a cheesy hotdog offered to her, i was glad that she choose not to eat it despite of the temptation as she understand it's not a healthy food. =)

What is my natural remedy for my 2 year old girl with fever?

Emily was running a fever on Wednesday. 

I was glad that her fever subsided the next day with the help of super foods of cactus, and mushrooms from Millennium and Nutriact. =)

My girl finished 1 millennium liquid package at one shot

Millennium has always been my girl's favourite drink since young! 

I feed her to nourish her immune system and building up her immunity. 

It has been quite some time that i feed her millennium liquid instead of millennium powder since I bought quite a few millennium liquid earlier. 

On 9th Nov (monday), when I came back from work, my husband asked me not to put millennium liquid at places which is accessible for my girl next time. 

I asked him "Why"? 

He replied that because my girl took 1 package of millennium liquid (as shown in the below picture) and finished the whole new package at ONE SHOT.

I then asked, OH, what happened later? 

My husband told, she POO (watery kind) but she is still perfectly alright. 

One package is definitely too much for her. 

However, i know that if one over consume millennium, it will not cause any side effects for example get poisoned as it's made of wholesome cactus, not synthetically or chemically made. 

At most, it will be wasted and come out from the body. 

I felt relieved and thankful of myself :) that I chose to use only E.Excel wholesome food products for my girl since young to help on her immunity build-up instead of using synthetically made supplements.

Fiber and Nutritional Immunology

How many of you goes to washroom for bowel movement at the same timing on daily basis?
How many of you do not need to spend much effort for your bowel movement?

If your answer is yes, then probably your fiber intake is good. 

In general, i believe many people would want to find out how much fiber intake is considered enough to maintain good health? 

The American dietetic Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association recommend a daily intake of 25g to 35g of dietary fiber to maintain good health.

Example of fiber content:
  • Carrot (1) 2.3g 
  • Celery (1cup) 1.7g 
  • Apple (1 fruit w skin) 2.8g 
  • Kiwi (1 fruit) 1g 
  • Barley (1/2 cup,cooked) 4.2g
  • White rice (1/3 cup) 0.5g
  • Psyllium husk (100g) = 78g
  • Oat (100g) = 11g

(Fiber can only be found from plants, not animals

There are many benefits of fiber to our body to prevent many diseases including 

• colorectal cancer
• heart diseases
• control blood sugar level
• prevent obesity etc. 

For children, they can have a better appetite, better digestive health, healthy weight gain.

After understanding the importance of fiber intake, i personally think it's really challenging for us to get enough 25g - 35 gram of fiber a day from our diet!!

Let's see how's our daily diet usually go?

For example

- Salad
= 4 g of fiber 

- rice with 2 servings of vegetables + 1 serving of meat 
- 2 slices of fruits 
= 5 g of fiber

- noodle 
- 1 apple and 1 orange 
= 5 g of fiber

Total fiber = 14 g of fiber 

(Recommended fiber intake a day is 25 - 35 gram) - only fulfil 50% 

Insufficient of fiber intake will cause constipation problem. Looking at the above diet habit, it's understandable why constipation has become so common nowadays. 

Many have suffered from Haemorrhoid also after experiencing chronic constipation for a while.  

The above problems can lead to colon cancer if nothing has been done to rectify. 

Colon cancer rate is increasing in recent years. 

Nothing happens out of sudden. It starts from small problems. For example, the person has been suffering from piles and chronic constipation before being diagnosed with colon cancer. 

Colon Cancer has incubation period of 10-20 years before being detected and diagnosed. 
So never ignore the importance of sufficient fiber intake in our daily diet. 

By changing our diet, we can save our lives and family's lives!

There are many fiber products in the market to help solve the constipation problems for example some forms of fiber drinks.

However, some fiber drinks in the market is 'effective' but not safe. For example, it gives laxative effects to clear the bowel by stimulating the bowel movement. Laxative effects give rise to many health problems including rectal irritation, stomach discomfort etc.

    Why Choosing Soy Milk instead of Cows Milk?

    Why Soy Milk is getting more preferance from Parents compared to Cow's Milk nowadays.

    I personally prefer soy milk than cow's milk for the below reasons:

    What's the hidden risk/ danger of cow's milk? 

    1. Cause Allergies

    • Dairy milk protein is the most likely cause of allergy-related asthma.
    • Casein (a protein in cow's milk) and lactoprotein (a protein in breast milk) are completely different proteins. 
    • The human body can digest, at most, 50% of animal protein (Casein), the remaining is left in the body and cause allergy, whereas our body can digest up to 90% of breast milk. 
    • Research shows that compared to children who grew up on breast milk, a higher percentage of children who grew up on cow's milk have allergies. 
    • A child who grow up with allergies will be affected in many areas due to side effects of medication used, e.g. inhaler, steroids. These medication will affect their normal growth. The itchiness and absence from school will affect their learning process also. 

    2. Cause Calcium Loss - leads to Osteoporosis (instead of strengthening the bones) 

    • Animal protein is acidic, hence the body will dissolve BONE material to provide calcium and phosphate to neutralise the acidic protein. This causes calcium loss from the bone. 
    • Animal proteins have a very high content of sulfur-containing amino acids such as methionine and cystein, which have a powerful effect on the kidney's calcium excretion. 
    • Thus, animal protein is MORE likely to cause calcium loss than plant protein. 

    3. Excessive animal protein intake is linked to cardiovascular diseases and cancer. 

    • Cow milk contain animal hormones that increase the risk of getting cancer such as breast cancer and prostate cancer.

    In Summary, Animal Protein:
    • High in Fats and Calories
    • The human body cannot break down animal protein effectively 
    • Excessive consumption burdens and damages the liver and kidney
    • Difficult to digest 
    • May cause allergies
    • High in saturated fats

    • Long term consumption may increase risk of diseases including atherosclerosis, fatty liver, heart attack, and even cancer
    • Excessive consumption increases calcium loss from the body
