Parents looking for Natural remedy besides medicine intake for children

Many parents will ask are here any other alternatives besides than resorting to western treatment when our child fell sick?

  • Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)?
  • Chinese Massage - Tui Na
  • Taking more fruits and Vegetables?
  • But why there is not much improvement to their frequent fever and cough?
  • How can I build their immune system?

As a mother of 2, I can relate totally to the anxious feeling of the parents.

We feel heartache when seeing our children have to suffer from sickness.

What can we do best for them so that they can grow healthily?

After years of seeking for health improvement during my teenager's days and early working life,
I finally found a solution to it - that is through the Science of Nutritional Immunology.

  • See: Goals of Nutritional Immunology

https://healthywholesomefood.blogspot.sg/2014/01/the-goals-of-nutritional-immunology.html

When i was a teenager, my mom has frequently brought me to clinic due to frequent colds and fever.
I always suffer from stomach wind especially during travelling.

I keep wondering why my health was so bad? What caused all these illnesses?

After chancing upon Science of Nutritional Immunology, many of the health questions were answered.
I have found the reasons to these diseases and solution for the improvement too.

Since practicing Nutritional Immunology Lifestyle, i have never suffered from stomach winds, colds and fever frequency had greatly reduced.

I am no longer having to use western medicine as i realised there are side effects from medicine intake.

  • See: What are the side effects of common western medicine?
https://healthywholesomefood.blogspot.sg/2016/07/what-are-side-effects-of-western.html

Thankfully, I practice the same to my children also.

Seeing them growing healthily make me feel very relieved and happy.

Right nourishment from quality superfoods are important to their immune system.

I'm happy that my elder girl (coming to 3 years old) and my younger boy (coming to 1 year old) have been medicine-free since infancy!!

Once in a while, they will fall sick, such as mild fever.

With Nutritional Immunology foods, they recovered fast!

Example, fever usually subsided the next day. I did not give them any western medicine, just more diligently feed them Nutritional Immunology wholesome foods and practice Nutritional Immunology Lifestyle

They did they can recover from the sickness without having to use western medicines.

Also some videos i took when my elder girl was still very young.

I am glad to receive good news from my friend who just gave birth to a healthy and pretty princess recently.

Her pretty princess

I am happy and feel fulfilled for being able to make a difference in her life by providing a great solution to her during her pregnancy. She was happy to see her baby being delivered healthy and easier to take care of.

Millennium is a concentrated cactus beverage.

Both are very nourishing for pregnant ladies, in fact healthier and safer than bird nest.

Being a preggie, I understand that we must be very cautious of what is putting in our mouth as it will affect the growth of our baby.

For me, I was considered a fortunate one as I learned about Nutritional Immunology way before I was pregnant, also understand entire series of E.Excel wholesome food products in a greater depth about Nutritional Immunology.

So, I am very confident to consume E.Excel food products in a large amount for my pregnancy nourishment without resorting to any supplements suggested by my gynae.

i could find replacement in the E.Excel wholesome food product range to get ALL the necessary nutrition required by a preggie =)

My both pregnancies were also smooth and a great blessing to safely deliver my baby girl and baby boy too.

All Work and No Play - what impact to your health and life?

"80 percent of professionals ar working longer than their contractual hours...72 percent of respondents still tune into work when they are out of the office, continuing to work from home or on mobile device."

"You fear for the consequences if you don't stay attached to it without a break. You may justify this to yourself by harbouring irrational thoughts of being indispensable at  work. In effect, Work begins to manage you rather than you managing your work."

"Some people do not feel they can take an annual vacation, in part out of fear that their workload will be overwhelming when they return."

"Workaholism will have adverse effects on your health and life."
- extracted from the above article

I think this work-life balance issue worth us to take note also.
Many of times we are caught in the rat race, family commitment to make more money, inflation pressure, expensive living standard etc... that we have no choice but to engage into this kind of work life. Otherwise we may be dropped out due to stiff competition.

But this will greatly affect our health due to work stress, irregular meals, unbalanced diet and lack of exercise and sleeping.

Hence, Making a right choice is more important than working hard. When you have choose the right direction, then only you put on your hard work, the results will be awesome!

When we have a choice to choose our desired lifestyle, which one will you choose?

Stressed work life with more money but lacking of time and health to enjoy the fruits of success?

OR

Ultimate Freedom Lifestyle which consists of Financial Freedom (continuous cash flow even when you retire), Time Freedom and Health freedom (free of diseases)?

The choice is on your hand. Make your life meaningful and fruitful by making the right choice to lead the lifestyle that you desire.

Antibiotic Overuse Putting Babies in Danger

Another article that shows the misuse of antibiotics created a hyper-virulen strain of gem / multi-resistant bacteria (SUPERBUG)!

"Streptococcus agalactiae is a common bacterium that colonises the intestines or urinary genital tract...But this bacterium can be dangerous to newborn if they are exposed to it through infected fluids during delivery, be it vaginal or Caesarean section."

"Today, multi-resistant bacteria is a major problem,  so this study shows the need to take into account the impact from all prescribed antibiotics."

How to fight bacteria effectively without using antibiotics?
The answer is YES. Our body has got the best doctor in the world which kills bacteria or viruses for us when it is healthy. It is the immune system.

Evernew Orange Fruit Cup and Coconut Trees Fruit Platter

Did a healthy fruit cup using Evernew Orange for myself :)

Steps:

1. Slice the orange from top to separate in five. Scoop the orange and set aside.

2. Cut the kiwi fruit into small cubes and mix with strawberry, cherry and blueberries.

3. Mix the Evernew Orange with orange juice. Stir evenly and add in all the ingredients in Step 2. Fill into the orange cup.

4. Decorate with cherry, blueberries and strawberry on top.

Also did a healthy fruit platter "COCONUT TREEES" for my girl :)

Does it look like 2 coconut trees? :)

I use Evernew Orange as the "soil base" of the coconut trees.

When Emily saw this platter, she was very excited at her BIG dessert with different colours. :p

But she only managed to eat a little. The below is the deformed coconut trees after her dessert time! haha! I finished the rest of it.

I'm happy to see her growth milestone!

Happy Emily! :)

Misuse of Antibiotics caused Superbug

An article that shared on HOW TO BEAT SUPERBUGS?

"85% of Sore throat were from viral infection and patients did not need antibiotics."

Me: Indeed, antibiotics are not helpful in viral infection.

"Doctors need to be judicious in giving antibiotics and use clinical tools such as the Centor score to gauge whether patients have a bacterial sore throat."

"If patient A loaded with normal bacteria and a small amount of resistant bacteria (superbug) as a result of previous history of overusing antibiotics, came in and was given regular antibiotics for the normal bacteria, he might be well for a while as the antibiotics would kill the normal bacteria.
However, the superbug would continue to replicate and he would become ill again with the infection driven by the superbug."

Me: I totally agreed. If the person keeps falling ill with the same illness, it means that there are superbugs in the body due to overuse of antibiotics previously.

"Dr Lee said those in contact with the patient could be infected by the superbug and if they had a weak immune system and other medical problems, he or she might die or require a long hospital stay.
He said doctors would then have to use stronger drugs such as carbopenems or polymixin as a result of antibiotic resistance but these drugs could impair some organs."

Me: Hence, all of us especially being parents, we need to be a wise consumer, and be responsible on our own health and our kids' health, not to hand it to doctors.

    Artificial Sweeteners Boost Diabetes risk

PARIS: Promoted as an aid to good health, artificial sweeteners may in fact be boosting diabetes risk, said a study on Wednesday (Sep 17) that urged a rethink of their widespread use and endorsement.

Also called non-calorific artificial sweeteners, or NAS, the additives are found in diet sodas, cereals and desserts - a huge market for people worried about weight gain and sugar intake.

Some experts recommend NAS for people with Type 2 diabetes, a disease that has attained pandemic proportions, and for a pre-diabetic condition called glucose intolerance, with elevated blood-sugar levels.

After leaving a sensation of sweetness on the tongue, NAS molecules pass through the intestinal tract without being absorbed. This explains why, unlike sugar, they add negligibly, if at all, to the calorie count.

But scientists reported in the journal Nature that experiments on lab mice and a small group of humans found NAS disrupted the makeup and function of gut bacteria, and actually hastened glucose intolerance.

"Artificial sweeteners were extensively introduced into our diets with the intention of reducing caloric intake and normalising blood glucose levels without compromising the human 'sweet tooth'," the paper said.

"Our findings suggest that NAS may have directly contributed to enhancing the exact epidemic that they themselves were intended to fight," it said bluntly.

Scientists led by Eran Elinav and Eran Segal of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel added three commonly-used types of NAS - aspartame, sucralose or saccharin - to the drinking water of mice in body-size appropriate doses equivalent to recommended maximum human intake.

Those rodents given NAS developed glucose intolerance, whereas mice that drank only water, or water with sugar, did not.

Next, the researchers transplanted faeces from NAS-fed and glucose-fed mice into rodents bred to have no gut bacteria of their own.

The blood-glucose levels of the NAS transplant recipients rose sharply, the team found - and their gut bacteria worked harder than the other group's at extracting glucose from nutrients.

The next step was to apply these insights to humans. Pouring over questionnaires and health data from 381 non-diabetic people, the team found a "significant" link between glucose intolerance and higher NAS consumption.

Finally, the researchers placed seven volunteers who did not normally use NAS on a seven-day regimen that included the maximum sweetener intake recommended by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Within five to seven days, four developed elevated blood-glucose levels and an altered gut bacteria mix, apparently mirroring the effect in mice.

    DEMAND FOR A REVIEW

Past investigations into NAS have delivered mixed results. Some showed benefits in weight loss and glucose tolerance, while others suggested the opposite.

The picture is muddied by the fact that many NAS consumers are people who already have diabetes or are prone to it.

The new experiments are a red flag, the team said. "This calls for a reassessment of today's massive, unsupervised consumption of these substances," said Elinav.

Independent commentators praised the work for its innovation, but warned against overreaction. The human trial involved just seven people over a week, and wider and longer trials are needed to draw any firm conclusion, they said.

"Human diets are complex, consisting of many foods, the consumption of which can vary in amounts, and over time," warned John Menzies of the Centre for Integrative Physiology at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

"This research raises caution that NAS may not represent the 'innocent magic bullet' they were intended to be to help with the obesity and diabetes epidemics," Nita Forouhi, a University of Cambridge epidemiologist told Britain's Science Media Centre. "But it does not yet provide sufficient evidence to alter public health and clinical practice."

Parent Must Read: Shall my kid's tonsils get removed if keep having inflammation?

To all Parents, I think it's important to read the below about tonsils.

    Source: http://www.courierpress.com/news/2011/jun/20/long-term-risks-may-outweigh-advantages-of/?print=1

    ************************
Tonsils. Oh, how we may come to miss them.
For much of the baby boomer set, losing them was a rite of childhood, with tonsils nipped out at the rate of a million or so procedures a year.

The trade-off for a few miserable days in the hospital and the unrequited promise of unlimited post-operative ice cream (we were usually too nauseous to eat much) was supposed to be fewer sore throats and ear aches, trips to the doctor and missed days of school.

These days, ear, nose and throat specialists perform about half as many tonsillectomies as they did in the 1950s and '60s to correct a broader range of problems in both children and adults, from sleep apnea to a rare type of kidney infection.

Various studies and reviews over the past few decades have collectively concluded that while the procedure may help certain individuals, most of its advantages, as far as infections go, seem to last only a couple of years.

Medical societies ranging from the Infectious Disease Society of America to the American Academy of Pediatrics have either concluded that removing tonsils, with or without the adenoids, does little or no good for things such as middle ear infections or should be considered only for extreme and frequent strep throat infections that can't be otherwise medicated.

More recently, the other tonsil shoe has been dropping in research that suggests some negative long-term side effects from losing the little organelles.

First, reports published in 2009 and again this year note that children who have their tonsils out, with or without adenoid removal, are at increased risk for obesity.

The researchers in both studies speculate that kids freed from the constant assault of sore throats may simply be more inclined to eat, or that frequent illness actually may impede growth and that children go into a growth spurt after the surgery. They also note that parents may tend to overfeed children who suddenly no longer are picky eaters.

Earlier this year, Swedish researchers reported that having tonsils or the appendix removed before age 20 slightly increased patients' risk for suffering a heart attack at a young age — by 44 percent for the tonsils and 33 percent for the appendix.

There was no apparent similar effect for losing the organs after that age, however.
The researchers, from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, note that both organs are part of the lymphoid system that supports the body's immune response.

They speculate that removing the organs may affect the immune system over the long term in a way that increases inflammatory damage to the heart and major arteries. But because the organs seem to have reduced function after adolescence, the study was limited to those who had surgery before age 20.

"Given the strong biological and epidemiological evidence linking inflammation with coronary heart disease, one might anticipate that surgical removal of the tonsils and appendix, with the consequent effects on immunity, might also have a long-term effect on heart disease," said Dr. Imre Janzsky, lead investigator, in a statement about the European Heart Journal report.

He also noted that because the study only looked at Swedes born between 1955 and 1970, the total number of heart attacks was small — only about 400 out of 7.5 million studied, but with a clear tilt toward those who had had appendectomies or tonsillectomies versus a control group.

Janzsky said it's likely that looking at people older than their 50s would show a similar or greater risk of heart disease from having had tonsils or appendix removed.
